BURLINGTON, Vt. – Sen. Bernie Sanders on Thursday will host a livestream on the devastating impact of the coronavirus pandemic on Americans in our jail system.
The period of mass incarceration created an ideal storm contained in the nation’s jails, prisons and detention amenities, and now greater than 14,000 prisoners and almost 4,000 jail employees members have examined optimistic for Covid-19, in response to counts gathered by The Marshall Project.
Sanders will likely be joined by Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, The Covid Prison Project’s Lauren Brinkley-Rubinstein, Ph. D., lawyer and South Carolina State Rep. Justin Bamberg, Vice President of the Legal Action Center Tracie Gardner and activist Shaun King.
